"ni shi na li ren (where are you from in Chinese)?" — this is the question my daughter asking from me few months ago – a girl just 3 months past 2. No one of us trained her to say something like that and we we did not think it is proper time to tell her that we are from the far west and be here for better job and much freedom, and even we tell her she may not understand all of this.
did not wait until we get to realize what she mean (as it is so sudden), "wo shi xinjiang ren (I am from xinjiang)"–she continued. how she got that? actually, she is not from there, she was born here and grown up here, she has complete reason to be from here, but the people around her excluding her with their the most basic institutional feeling, she has the face of Uyghur, the beautiful face and the hair and the eyes. keep her distinguished, keep her special, and keep her excluded…
I knew what the most Chinese people think when they see us in the first eye on the streets or the public places, the amusement, the admire… and then the oddness faces when they got to know we are from XinJiang… what is wrong with xinjiang, no thing wrong with xinjiang. xinjiang is the richest province of china with its natural Oil, gas and mineral resources, bu the badness from the media, even from the education even in the universities, with the distortion of the reality, try to describe there as the poorest place in the china even so they had never been to there, to make people think it is poor place, with bad education, with the population of "Minority" nationalities as the way even the government calls for…
